This is a physical change, not a chemical reaction.Think of how sea salt is made: the water goes, the salt remains.Water-based nail polish: uses water as the solvent, so its less smelly. But it dries slower and chips more easily.2. Ajius Memory: Nail Flowers and WalnutsWhen Ajiu was little, nails werent painted — they weredyed.Crush impatiens (garden balsam flowers), mix with alum, wrap around your fingernails with leaves, and wait overnight.Next morning — your nails turn orange, the color of shrimp astaxanthin.If it gets on your skin, it stains just like the juice ofgreen walnuts— impossible to wash off.Speaking of green walnuts…Ajiu was maybe 2 or 3, and she ate a lot of walnuts.Alot.And then?Butter butt.Walnuts are 60%–70% oil.A toddlers digestive system cant handle that much fat all at once.So her body did the smart thing:Too much oil — cant process it all through the liver. Lets just send it straight through.Oil passed right through, lubricating everything on the way out.Thats not getting sick — thatsconservation of mass.What comes in and cant be absorbed… goes out.3. Gel Polish: Not Drying, But CuringWhen Ajiu grew up and started doing nails, she discoveredgel polish.It doesnt dry on its own.You apply it — it stays sticky — until you put your hand under a lamp.Liang Shenxun adds the principle:Gel polish is made ofphotocurable resin— small oligomer molecules mixed withphotoinitiators.When UV or violet light (around 405 nm wavelength) hits the photoinitiators, they absorb the energy and break apart into free radicals.These radicals act like tiny lit matches, instantly linking the resin molecules together into a dense, cross-linked network.This isnt drying. This ispolymerization.In seconds, you get what amber takes millions of years to become.Amberis ancient tree resin that slowly polymerized under heat and pressure over eons.Gel polish is resin that artificially amberizes under a lamp in 30 seconds.4. The Mystery of the Nail Lamp: Why Dim Light Works FasterAjiu noticed something:Some lamps are bright but leave the gel soft.Other lamps look dim — just a faint purple glow — but cure the gel in seconds.Liang Shenxun adds the principle:Photoinitiators in gel polish have a specificabsorption peak.Its like a lock that only one key can open.Cheap lamps have a broad spectrum — lots of light, but most of it isnt absorbed.Professional lamps have a precise wavelength (around 405 nm) and the right power.
